ECOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT
Ecological assessments are typically initiated when a requirement under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979, Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995 (TSC Act) or Native Vegetation Act is triggered for activity such as clearing. A normal ecological assessment will begin with identification of vegetation communities, soils, habitats and potentially occurring threatened species. This information is used to design field surveys and threatened species assessments that are based on factors such as which species may occur, the area of potential impact and scope of works. Field surveys can vary from targeted searches of threatened species, flora and  habitat surveys, to fauna surveys. Where necessary some specialist fauna survey services may be carried out by an associate fauna consultancy company.

Some examples of work completed in this field include:
* Environmental Management Plans
* Plans of Management (for Crown Land)
* Bushland Management Plan s
* Flora Surveys and 7 Part Tests
* Vegetation Management Plans

PEAK LAND MANAGEMENT PTY LTD is a consultant member of the NSW Ecological Association and abides by its ethics and code of conduct. PEAK LAND MANAGEMENT is licenced with the Department of Environment and Conservation (S11395) to collect threatened plants and conduct flora surveys.
